The story of an Irish man in Texas
What makes somebody move 4500 miles around the world to the middle of Texas?
I started in Dublin, Ireland, when my Air Force uncle gave me an early 80's model camera and two lenses. By age 14 I was using the tiny school darkroom to discover the magic of having beautiful images appear before my eyes.
Fast forward past short lived careers as an analytical chemist, a software developer and a magician and to when I worked for a small Irish record label. I started with some tour documentary photography which led to photographing portraits of lots of their friends bands. Then they started getting married, having babies and running businesses, and they wanted my photographs of all of them.
In 2011, I decided to go travel the globe with my camera and shoot musicians in all corners of the world. Fiji, Peru, Australia, Canada, Iceland where all stops along the way. But in Austin, Texas, during SXSW, I met the amazing lady I would marry the following year.
So since then I've been living and shooting based out of Austin and now Wimberley, loving the long hot summers, the amazing food and photographing so many different wonderful couples and families.
